Affordable tablets set to hit the Kenyan market

HCL Infosystems promised to debut three ME Tablets namely U2, V1 and Y3. The U2 tablet, which will measure 7 inches and run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, will be the cheapest, retailing at around US$109.

“The Tab has an integrated front camera for video chat. The tablet also carries a powerful GPU and 1GB DDR3 RAM which enables one to enjoy smooth 2D/3D graphics gaming,” the company said, adding that the tab has an 8GB internal memory, expandable to 32GB.

Kaspersky in East Africa, Kenya.

Kaspersky Lab opened a new office in Kenya; the company justifies this to the phenomenon growth of internet penetration in East Africa. Bethwel Opil, the Channel Sales Manager for Kaspersky Lab East Africa referring to Communication Commission of Kenya, (CCK’s) report at the end of 2010, says Kenya had 8.8 million internet users, currently 17.3 million internet users’ exist, and this has been reported with the majority of them accessing the internet on their mobile devices.

21 Windows Phone Apps Stores Open Across Africa


Microsoft announced the opening of 37 web Stores for apps and games around the world, which now includes several African countries.
The stores will enable African users of Windows Phone devices to buy, download and access a large number of apps and games.  The African countries that have been granted access are Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Congo (DRC), Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

ICT for Africa 2013, Harare Zimbabwe

The conference’s objective is to highlight the synergy of collaboration between African countries and other developing countries, and between African countries and the developed countries towards ICT advancements and also towards development solutions for Africa.
